RHYTHM

You could say it took two years for Rhythm to form. The sheets had been waiting patiently in Marike’s studio all this time before she started working on them.

The material she used is handmade cotton rag paper. The paper naturally exudes a sense of calmness and respect for craftsmanship. Each sheet is unique and asks for minimal addition. With a few basic tools and her manual folding, the paper slowly begins to compose its own rhythm through the merging of the elements.

The repetition of elements makes the work satisfying to look at. Unpretentious. A sense of stillness starts to settle.

Light reveals the color shades of the paper and the story begins to unfold.
