ABOUT
From an early age, Marike was intrigued by the connection that can occur between an object and its viewer. A story told without words. This awareness makes her want to look beyond the obvious, the visible.
This natural gift of sensing combined with her love for objects and fascination for the intangibility of time, drives her to create.
"In my work I try to make a connection between confidence and insecurity"
VALUES
In her work, Marike’s main core values consistently emerge. Connection, refinement, proportions and simplicity. These values always relate differently to each work, but never stand alone.
Time and again in her creative process, Marike’s work begins and ends with apparent simplicity. Carefully chosen proportions and materials in her work are an essential element to its visual appeal and contribute to a sense of visual tranquility.
